MYANMAR RICE NOODLES WITH MEAT BALLS

Salam & hi to all,

its sunday, and the weather is gloomy. so nice if i can get some nap...i have promised to myself not to sleep so much, but its hard to keep the promise looking at this kind of seductive weather.

made myanmar rice noodles with meat balls. myanmar? this is to celebrate the freedom of Aung San Suu Kyi and hopefully this release is not any political trick/gimmick of junta..anyway, just kidding, i made this myanmar rice noodle because my normal malaysian rice noodle is out of stock. the difference between myanmar rice noodle and malaysian rice noodle is the myanmar rice noodle is triple in size. its thicker and more satisfying.

but before that, let me share with you about how i store my marinated meat. The ingredient is in the previous post but this time, omit the potato. i discovered that mashed potato is the reason why my kebab easily break, it didnt stick well. (pls check the post with title SIMPLE BEEF KEBAB)

mix the minced meat with fried unions, eggs, white pepper powder, salt, diced celery
leave it for half an hour

scoop small amount of the marinated meat into a plastic bag (depending on the plastic size)
press it, to leverage it
this is how it should looked like

you can make any shape using your finger as shown above
one design
or you can make like this
or like kebab style
to save space in the freezer, you can it fold like this, simple!
so where is the story about my myanmar rice noodle with meat balls? actually, the meat balls were the remainder of the kebab i packed to store. they were so easy to crumble into balls, any size you like, ping pong size or medium sized marbles.
they were juicy and yummy
there you go...look at that myanmar rice noodle, almost looks like the japanese noodle, but not that thick.
you can decorate with any green vegetables or just simply put celery in it.
you can replace the rice noodle with any normal noodle, as you wished. ops, i forgot to write up the recipe for the soup...maybe later, insyaAllah..

RECYCLE : CATS POOP SAND

Salam & hi to all,

how are you all been doing? i hope everybody is doing great :)

today i would like to share something which i guess might help us to be harmonious with the earth. pls dont throw any of your carton egg tray, news paper, carton boxes etc...you can recycle them into cats pee/poop sand :)

so the ITEMS :-

used egg paper tray carton

wood waste/sawdust. i got this a lot from a furniture factory near my house. i am sad that they burn the waste...how i wished i can take them all :(

THE STEPS

you can use tap water. sometimes i recycle the waste water which i used to mop the floor. hmm..but it is quite messy, so tap water is fine enough.

soak the egg paper tray carton. you can soak and leave it for a while and continue with your other work, like sweeping the floor, prepare breakfast etc...or you can do it before you go to bed and continue the work in the next morning. soak as to soften the paper, no minimum time (but not more than 24 hours or the smell would turn unpleasant)

put in the blender machine, and blend just for 3-4 seconds. (save electricity :)

pour in a tray or any container. i use a tray for demonstration purposes. isnt the tray nice?

squeeze it a bit not too hard. keep the 'moisture' state.

dont throw the excess water. put it back in the bowl to reuse/recycle again.

the sawdust in the tray

the portion by ratio sawdust to blended paper, 2:1, the more the better (i mean the sawdust)

mix them

you can put under the hot sun, until it is fully dried up and crispy dry. in my case i scoop and spread them out on the naturally heated exposed floor (outside the car porch area) to expedite the evaporation of the water. you can even put them in an airconditioned room as it would give the same effect as well (pls dont purposely switch the aircond on for this, save the electricity. use the heat from the sun instead)

i dont have the photo of them peeing or pooing, as you would know, its offensive, haha...anyway, all my cats love using it, and it helps to get rid the smelly odor in and outside my house (when they play outside). cats pee especially for those on processed cats food, is stinky smelly but using this poop sand formula would create a healthier air condition..you know, sometimes i feel like i were in the jungle with the smell of wood and other natural fragrance from the plants (poop box in my mini garden)

is this one of the way to show my love towards my cat? yes and not just that, giving them the recycled processed items proves that i love/concern of the earth and its inhabitant.

SIMPLE BEEF KEBAB

Salam & hi to all..

its hard to announce it, but i have to face this. i gained 3 kilograms!!! didnt run for quite sometimes now, my left knee needs a break. i have been 'exercising' in the kitchen though, trying new recipes, especially from the middle eastern.

so, lets talk about food now. after getting myself a mincing machine, life in the kitchen seems more interesting. now, i made my own meatballs, burgers and recently, my own kebab, yeay !this is how i did it :-

you are going to need

1. half kg red meat (beef)
2. 5 unions (the more the better)
3. half teaspoon white pepper (powder)
4. 2 eggs
5. 1 potato
6. celery
7. half teaspoon salt

Steps

1. mince the meat and put aside. chop or dice the unions and fry until they turned brown and put aside. cut the celery into small pieces and put aside. boil the potato until soft (i prefer to boil it with its skin).
2. peel the potato skin and put it into a medium sized bowl and mash it. then put the minced meat, fried unions, minced celery, white pepper, an egg and salt. mixed all the ingredient well. (mixing style: press, scoop and press again for few minutes)
3. leave it for 15mins - half an hour, as to marinate it.
4. make any shapes or sizes as you like.
5. beat an egg in a small bowl.
6. before frying your kebab/meatballs etc, dip in egg and fry in small amount of vegetable oil/normal cooking oil. i recommend a non stick pan, as the kebabs tend to break easily.
7. how do you like your kebab, either half or well done, its up to you...my advice, once you see the reddish meat color diminishes , then its considered cooked. if they were over cooked, the color would be quite dark, with some burning smell and of course it would be very dry. a nice kebab is the one with water content to maintain its softness. nobody enjoys eating hard and dry kebab...

for the remainder of the raw kebab, you can press into any shape and wrap with the food plastic. you can keep in the fridge as a stock and fry it anytime you like. if you want to cook it via microwave, pls unwrap it first.

you can eat it with bread, or normal rice. in my case, i served it with an iranian rice with dil herbs (you will notice the small leafy green color in the rice) and carrot & potato stew.

loved it.

p/s please wash your hand thoroughly before and after processing the above mentioned food processing procedures. peace :)
